Down a lane off the main roads and hidden from the hustle and bustle is a hideaway in an ancient hamlet with a millstream at the bottom of the garden which is mentioned in Domesday and it’s only fifteen minutes from the historic, mediaeval, walled market town of Ludlow in south Shropshire.
The historic market town of Leominster in Herefordshire is awash with antiques shops and is the start of the picturesque Black and White Village Trail.
The old market towns of Knighton just over the Welsh border and Clun famous for its AE Housman connection are close by.
Hereford is about 35 minutes away and Ross on Wye and Hay-on-Wye are in the south of the county which makes Lower Buckton an ideal base to explore the Welsh borders known as The Marches. Shropshire’s county town of Shrewsbury is a scenic hour away via the hills of The Longmynd and Church Stretton.
Only hour’s drive from the M5 Motorway but a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Lower Buckton is perfectly situated for all the wonderful, specialist independent food, drinks, antiques and interesting, privately owned, retail shops, Michelin starred restaurants, real-beer pubs, Ludlow Castle, museum, library, galleries, theatre, cinema, churches and Ludlow’s famous Georgian streets and mediaeval lanes, riverside and park walks and open-air markets.

Famed for its landscape, literary connections, great houses, castles and churches, fine gardens and picturesque parks, black and white village architecture and market towns. There are various National Walking and Cycle Trails with events throughout the year. Ludlow has two golf courses and a race-course.

We are thoughtful of the environment and the impact on the local community. All “waste” is recycled as much as possible. We provide bins for bottles, paper and metal and we have a compost heap and a vegetable garden.
There are no ground floor bedrooms and the house is not suitable for the infirm. Access Statement available on request.
Henry & Carolyn Chesshire are natives to the area and have lived at Lower Buckton for sixteen years. They and their dog live quietly in the old, self-contained servants’ quarters at the end the house. They are on site but not in sight.
If you don’t fancy cooking one evening, treat yourself to a dinner party cooked by your hostess, Carolyn and served by your host Henry. Ask what’s seasonal. Delicious dinners with everything locally sourced, bought or caught!
